Concerns For an Older Adult

Concerns For an Older Adult

For the older adults in your life, you may be the primary person who supports and advocates for them to ensure their safety and wellbeing.  CompEAP’s Licensed Counselors are here to offer guidance, recommendations, and resources.  For example, we are here to consult when you cannot reach understanding with your loved one on important matters, or if you’re observing changes in their cognition, behavior, or mood and are unsure of what to do.

Licensed Counselors can offer knowledge and coaching and will help you to problem solve on a variety of topics:

  • When living independently becomes a safety risk
  • Signs of anxiety, depression, substance use disorder, suicidality, etc.
  • Grief and loss
  • How to have conversations about the ability to continue driving
  • New ways to interact with your loved one as their abilities and/or cognition changes
  • Elder law issues and an attorney referral, if needed
