It is important to request a copy of your credit report from all three credit reporting agencies each year. Consumers are entitled to receive a free credit reports once a year from each of the major credit reporting agencies. Because each report may contain different information, review all three carefully and respond in writing if you find errors. The reports contain instruction on how to dispute any errors.

Under Federal legislation, you are entitled to one free credit report a year (the three major reporting agencies are listed above). To order a free credit report, go to

You will have to pay extra if you would like to see your score. It is important to thoroughly review the information in the report and correct any errors with the reporting agency or the creditor listed. This is one way to monitor your accounts and catch any issues related to identity theft.
