Pauline Clance and Dr. Suzanne Imes first coined the term “imposter syndrome” when they published “The Imposter Phenomenon in High Achieving Women: Dynamics and Therapeutic Intervention” in 1978. Over the years research has shown this is a more common phenomenon and not solely unique to this group. It is a psychological occurrence in which people doubt their skills, talents, or accomplishments and as a result have an internalized fear of failing. This training will focus on the following:
- - Learning the characteristics and potential causes of Imposter Syndrome
- - Explore the different types of and how they can present in individuals.
- - Look at how Imposter Syndrome can impact individuals and discuss tools to help mediate the impact it can have on people’s wellbeing.
